Messages to The Local Church from Mike Frese and Ben Williams
A Message from District Superintendent, Rev. Mike Frese
In our United Methodist connection, each church is a part of a district that is overseen by a pastor who serves as a district superintendent. The DS provides support to the churches, pastors, and laypersons within the district and works closely with the bishop. (Learn more about the structure of The United Methodist Church here.) Our district superintendent, Rev. Mike Frese, recorded a message for The Local Church to celebrate our launch of weekly worship. Technical difficulties prevented our showing it in worship on Sunday, so we wanted to instead share it here. Thanks, Mike!
A Message from Lead Pastor at Christ United Methodist Church, Rev. Ben Williams
Ben Williams, Lead Pastor at Christ UMC (our anchor congregation), also wanted to share words of blessing and celebration as The Local Church begins weekly worship. See his message below!
I give thanks that we serve a God of new beginnings… a God who makes all things new… a God who is NOT finished! What you are doing reminds me very much of the early church. You, too, are being bold, inclusive, with and for! What a gift you are offering by being God made local. I am confident that because of the Spirit at work in/through you, countless lives - in fact, the entire Pittsboro community and beyond - will be blessed, served, and transformed more and more into the image of the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven! Oh the sacred stories that will be told by children, youth, adults for generations to come because of the risk you are taking this day and every day… because you are daring to step out in faith… Thank you, bless you, may you sense in every right and good way that the faithful of CUMC are with you and most important of all… that God truly is with you!
