WHERE PASSION AND POSSIBILITY MEET

+ Worship Leader

The Local Church is a bold, inclusive new faith community committed to being with and for one another, our community, and the world. We call Chatham County, North Carolina home — an area just south of Chapel Hill that is primed for exponential growth. The Local Church is a new expression of Christ United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill.

We plan to pilot worship with monthly preview services beginning in May 2019 moving to weekly worship on Sunday mornings in September 2019. Because we’re new, we’re open to experimentation, adaptation, and figuring things out as we go.

We need a worship leader who plays, sings, and leads beautiful, singable music, and we hope this is someone who is comfortable in a number of genres or styles. You will have a part in crafting the feel of this worship experience. Whatever style(s) of music you bring, we simply want it to be a faithful representation of the story we’re seeking to tell.

We’re looking for someone with chops on keyboard or guitar, comfortable playing in a variety of styles, and good at getting others involved. We’d love someone organized and collaborative. We are not looking for a diva or superstar; rather, we hope for someone who enjoys leading people in Christian worship and helping people discover the countercultural joy of singing together.

Because worship is more than music, we also hope you will feel the freedom to let this role go beyond simply choosing songs. You will be a part of designing the entire worship experience from a creative standpoint. Art? Poetry? Creativity? Yes, please.

The Worship Leader at The Local Church is a part-time, salaried position with an understood commitment of 10 hours per week, on average. There is potential to grow as the church grows.
