Anti-Racism Book Study

The Fairway District/North Carolina Conference of The UMC is hosting a 10-week anti-racism book study on the book, Wait, Is This Racist? A Guide to Becoming an Anti-Racist Church.

During the 10 weeks of this beyond-a-book study, you will have the opportunity to engage with the authors of the book. In addition, you’ll spend time reviewing each chapter and working to create an action plan for your church race equity committee. The study facilitators and book co-authors will be popping into your break-outs to support your committee’s work.

The Study Will Be

  • Hosted on ten consecutive Thursdays from 12 to 1pm ET via Zoom beginning on August 4.

  • Co-facilitated by Rev. Amanda Rigby (The Peak Church) and Bryana Clover (Race Equity Consultant and co-author of Wait, Is This Racist?)

This Study is Designed For

  • Clergy and local church leaders in the Fairway and Capital UMC Districts

  • Race Equity Committee Members

Cost

  • Registration costs: $60/person ($50/person for groups of 4 people; $40/person for groups of 5+ people)

  • Book costs: ~$20 (purchase your own book)
