Holy Week & Easter 2023

On Thursday, April 6, as a way of marking Maundy Thursday, the night we remember Jesus' last supper and his commandment to love one another, we'll share a community meal at Café Root Cellar. Last year's Maundy Thursday meal was one of my 2022 highlights (and made me nostalgic for my days working food service!), and we're so grateful to Sera and Susan for welcoming us again this year.

On Friday, April 7, we’ll gather at The Parlour at Manns Chapel at 7:00 pm for a special Good Friday Tenebrae service. Tenebrae is the Latin word for darkness, and during this service, as we hear more and more of the heart-wrenching story of Jesus’ Passion, the darkness around us will become more and more prevalent.

And then on Easter Sunday, April 9, as is our tradition, we'll begin the day at sunrise with a one-of-a-kind Easter Sunrise service at Bynum Bridge overlooking the Haw River. There's absolutely nothing like it.

If you prefer to sleep in a little, join us at 10 am for our Easter Celebration at Woods Charter School, featuring singing, celebration, an Easter Egg hunt, and a whole lot of resurrection hope. It's going to be so good, and you'll want to invite all your, ahem, peeps.
