Pressing Pause (at least for a little while)

Beginning Sunday, May 19, The Local Church will pause live-streaming our Sunday services. We understand that this may cause some inconvenience, and we want you to know that this decision was not made lightly; however, we believe it is a faithful step for us as we move into the summer months.

We’re making this move largely because two key members of our A/V team will be unavailable for the next few months—both for very important reasons. Rather than trying to force a solution each week, we are choosing to simplify our Sunday setup for the summer.

If you are local and able to attend in person, we’d love for you to consider this a nudge to do so! We work hard to curate a meaningful in-person experience, and we don’t want you to miss out on how the Spirit moves in this space. As someone mentioned recently, “I feel like I can breathe here.” And it’s even better with you.

Moreover, just as God comes to us incarnate and enfleshed in the person of Jesus, we believe that gathering together as an embodied community has the potential to disrupt the rhythms and patterns of our lives that keep us more isolated and on the go than connected and rested. Something powerful happens when we’re together and the Spirit gets involved! This is worth leaning into, especially during the summer months, when it is easy to feel more disconnected than usual.

That said, we understand that not everyone is in a position to attend in person, and we are blessed to welcome many people online each week who have connected with The Local Church beyond Chatham County. We’ve long said that everybody’s local somewhere! So beginning Sunday, May 26 at 10 a.m., we’ll share a pre-recorded lighter liturgy created exclusively for our online friends. We’re still finalizing the details of this online liturgy, so please stay tuned.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, friends. If you have any questions, please email hello@thelocalchurchpbo.org. Know that we remain committed to affirming, anchoring, and empowering you to take your next faithful step on the way of Jesus to love where you are.
