ICYMI: Fast 4 // Fasting from Planning and Deadlines (Luke 13)

If you missed Sunday's service or could use a refresher, here's a quick recap featuring sharables and takeaways from our gathering. Scroll to the bottom for the full sermon recording.

📖 Focal Scripture

Luke 13:1–9

🎯 Reflection

Often, our overplanning and the creation of endless deadlines are rooted in a desire to control our own outcomes. But this control is an illusion. When we let go of our need to control and fast from planning and deadlines, trusting that God is at work, we can fully experience and embrace the ripening God has for us beyond what we could hope for or imagine.

🗣️ Key Quotation

“Sometimes we are so busy making plans and directing our lives, we forget there is a greater wisdom at work already nurturing new life for us.” — Christine Valters Painter

🙏 Prayer

Gracious Gardener, who is with us in every season, grant us the patience to let go of our need for control and embrace the journey of faith, that we might witness your kingdom unfolding in our lives. Amen.

➡️ Next Step

This week, fast from planning and deadlines by giving yourself the gift of unstructured time. Set aside anywhere from a half hour to a half a day to embrace boredom. Let yourself be present without specific goals or plans. If drawn to an activity, follow that inclination as long as it remains unstructured and free of intended outcomes. Dig in more here.
