ICYMI: Come Alive 4 // Alive to the World

If you missed Sunday's service or could use a refresher, here's a quick recap featuring sharables and takeaways from our gathering. Scroll to the bottom for the full sermon recording.

📖 Focal Scripture

Exodus 1:8–22

🎯 Reflection

When we root ourselves deeply in divine love and embrace who we truly are, we find the courage to resist systems of dehumanization and join the long line of ordinary people whose small acts of faithful resistance have changed the course of history. Like Shiphrah and Puah, we're called not to solve every problem but to be present and faithful where we are, trusting that our authentic presence and action--however small--matters in God's economy of restoration. The world doesn't need our exhausted striving; it needs us to come fully alive to the particular work that makes our hearts sing.

🗣️ Key Quotation

“Social action is an expression of resistance against whatever tends to or separates one from the experience of God, who is the very ground of his being... The basic consideration has to do with the removal of all that prevents God from coming to himself in the life of the individual.” — Howard Thurman

🙏 Prayer

Beloved Creator, who plants seeds of resistance and hope in the most unexpected places, center us in your love and empower us to do what is ours to do, trusting that our imperfect offerings become part of your perfect work of restoration. We ask this in the spirit of all who have chosen life in the face of empire. Amen.

💡 Journaling Prompts

  • What seemingly small acts of kindness from others have changed the course of my life?

  • What small, faithful actions am I taking today that might have ripple effects I'll never see?

  • When I imagine myself "fully alive," what am I doing, and how is it contributing to God's work of restoration in the world?
